Return of Christ

Definition: Before leaving the earth, Jesus Christ promised to return. Thrilling events in connection with God’s Kingdom are associated with that promise. It should be noted that there is a difference between coming and presence. Thus, while a person’s coming (associated with his arrival or return) occurs at a given time, his presence may thereafter extend over a period of years. In the Bible the Greek word er′kho·mai (meaning “to come”) is also used with reference to Jesus’ directing his attention to an important task at a specific time during his presence, namely, to his work as Jehovah’s executioner at the war of the great day of God the Almighty.

Definición: Antes de partir de la Tierra, Jesucristo prometió volver. En asociación con esa promesa hay acontecimientos emocionantes relacionados con el Reino de Dios. Debe notarse que hay diferencia entre venida y presencia. Así, mientras que la venida de alguien (asociada con su llegada o vuelta) sucede a cierto tiempo dado, su presencia después de eso tal vez se extienda por un período de años. En la Biblia, la palabra griega er′kho·mai (que significa “venir”) también se emplea con referencia al hecho de que Jesús dirige su atención a una tarea importante en un tiempo específico durante su presencia, a saber, a su obra como ejecutor nombrado por Jehová en la guerra del gran día de Dios el Todopoderoso.
