Han dicho: “Vengan y raigámoslos para que no sean nación” (Sal. 83:4).
En el Salmo 83, el salmista ruega a Jehová que tome medidas para defender su soberanía y dar a conocer su nombre. La obra debe haberse compuesto algún tiempo después de la muerte de Salomón. ¿Por qué razón? Porque durante los reinados de David y Salomón, el rey de Tiro mantuvo relaciones amistosas con Israel. Sin embargo, cuando se escribió el Salmo 83, los habitantes de Tiro se mostraban hostiles y se habían aliado con los enemigos de Israel. Queda claro que Jehová Dios inspiró la redacción de este ferviente salmo durante un período de peligro para su pueblo. Pero el salmo también es fuente de ánimo para los siervos de Dios de nuestro tiempo, que vez tras vez han sufrido los ataques de enemigos decididos a eliminarlos. Además, sin duda fortalecerá a todos los que adoran a Dios con espíritu y con verdad cuando, en un futuro cercano, Gog de Magog reúna sus huestes en un último intento de destruirlos (Eze. 38:2, 8, 9, 16).

They have said: “Come and let us efface them from being a nation.”—Ps. 83:4.
In Psalm 83, the psalmist begs Jehovah to take action so as to uphold His sovereignty and make His name known. The psalm must have been composed some time after Solomon’s death. Why? Because during the reigns of David and Solomon, Tyre’s king was friendly toward Israel. By the time Psalm 83 was composed, the inhabitants of Tyre had turned against Israel and had sided with its enemies. It is evident that Jehovah God inspired the writing of this prayerful song at a time when his nation was in danger. The psalm also provides encouragement for God’s servants today, who throughout their history have faced one attack after another by enemies determined to destroy them.
