No debes poner a prueba a Jehová tu Dios (Mat. 4:7).
En una de las tentaciones que sufrió Jesús en el desierto, el Diablo lo apostó sobre el almenaje del templo y lo desafió a arrojarse abajo y así dejar que los ángeles lo salvaran (Mat. 4:5, 6). Supuestamente, si Jesús hubiera hecho lo que le decía Satanás, podría haber probado de manera espectacular que era el Mesías. Pero aquello en realidad habría sido un acto inapropiado y arrogante que no hubiera contado con la aprobación de Dios. Hoy día Satanás también pudiera tentarnos a poner a prueba a Jehová. ¿De qué manera? Tal vez nos incite a buscar la aprobación del mundo. Quizá nos induzca a imitar las modas mundanas en la forma de vestirnos o arreglarnos o a participar en diversiones poco recomendables. Ahora bien, si decidiéramos pasar por alto los consejos bíblicos e imitáramos al mundo, ¿podríamos esperar que se nos librara de las consecuencias de nuestras decisiones? ¿Verdad que no esperaríamos que Jehová nos protegiera, quizá mediante sus ángeles? Así pues, no pongamos a prueba a Jehová haciéndonos amigos del mundo (Sant. 4:4; 1 Juan 2:15-17).

You must not put Jehovah your God to the test.—Matt. 4:7.
In one of the temptations that Jesus experienced in the wilderness, the Devil stationed Jesus upon the battlement of the temple and challenged him to hurl himself down and allow the angels to save him. (Matt. 4:5, 6) Supposedly, this would result in a spectacular display of Jesus’ Messiahship. In reality, though, it would have been an improper, arrogant act that would not have had God’s approval and support. Satan may tempt us to seek glory in various ways. He may try to induce us to imitate worldly fads in dress and grooming or to engage in questionable entertainment. But if we were to ignore Bible counsel and imitate the world, could we expect the angels to shield us from the bad effects of such a course? Let us not put Jehovah to the test in improper ways, perhaps by cultivating friendship with the world.—Jas. 4:4; 1 John 2:15-17.
