Jehovah’s Witnesses in Japan after Earthquake 2011

Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide are expressing deep concern for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Japan on March, 2011. The direct communication to Japan remains problematic at this time.
The branch office of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brooklyn NY, did not release any reports from our brothers yet, as we known the Witnesses in cooperation with local authorities and other relief agencies are organized to help meet the immediate needs of their fellow worshippers and other victims in Japan and care for them.
According to the 2011 Yearbook of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Japan attendance at the 2010 celebration of the Memorial was 322,875.  The worldwide attendance at the 2010 celebration of the Memorial was 18,706,895, an increase of more than half a million over the previous year. The number of people who attend Jehovah’s Witnesses’ annual commemoration of the Memorial of Christ’s death (also known as the Lord’s Evening Meal) includes active Witnesses and their children as well as others who are invited to attend.
Witnesses around the world are offering their assistance to Japanese people. The Witnesses’ relief efforts are currently being coordinated from their world headquarters in Brooklyn, providing practical help and spiritual comfort for the victims.
More detailed information will be provided as it becomes available.
