Pedro les dijo: “Arrepiéntanse, y bautícese cada uno de ustedes en el nombre de Jesucristo para perdón de sus pecados, y recibirán la dádiva gratuita del espíritu santo[”] (Hech. 2:38).
Pensemos por un momento en los judíos y prosélitos que escucharon a Pedro. Por su religión, ya reconocían a Jehová como su Dios. Además, gracias a las Escrituras Hebreas, sabían de la existencia del espíritu santo, la fuerza activa que Dios había usado tanto en la creación como posteriormente (Gén. 1:2; Jue. 14:5, 6; 1 Sam. 10:6; Sal. 33:6). Pero les hacía falta algo más: tenían que aceptar a Jesús como el Mesías, el medio de salvación que Dios había dispuesto. Por eso les dijo Pedro que debían bautizarse “en el nombre de Jesucristo”. Poco después de resucitar, el Maestro les había ordenado al apóstol y a sus compañeros que bautizaran a los discípulos “en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del espíritu santo” (Mat. 28:19, 20). Este mandato tuvo un profundo significado en el siglo primero y sigue teniéndolo hoy día.

Peter said to them: “Repent, and let each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the free gift of the holy spirit.”—Acts 2:38.
Think of the religious situation of those Jews and proselytes who heard Peter. They had already accepted Jehovah as their God. And from the Hebrew Scriptures, they knew about the holy spirit, God’s active force used during creation and thereafter. (Gen. 1:2; Judg. 14:5, 6; 1 Sam. 10:6; Ps. 33:6) But they needed something more. It was vital for them to understand and accept God’s means of salvation—the Messiah, Jesus. Hence, Peter highlighted their need for being “baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.” Some days before, the resurrected Jesus commanded Peter and others to baptize people “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit.” (Matt. 28:19, 20) That had profound meaning in the first century, and it still does.

Imitate Jesus’ Example of Wisdom

 
 Jesus manifested many outstanding qualities, but we will focus on four: his wisdom, his humility, his zeal, and his love. First, consider his wisdom—his ability to put knowledge and understanding to work in a practical way. The apostle Paul wrote: “Carefully concealed in [Jesus] are all the treasures of wisdom and of knowledge.” (Col. 2:3) 

Where did Jesus get such wisdom? He himself said: “Just as the Father taught me I speak these things.” (John 8:28) His wisdom originated with Jehovah, so we are not surprised at the soundness of Jesus’ judgment.
 
 For example, Jesus used good judgment in choosing his life course. He decided to keep his life simple, focusing on just one thing: the doing of God’s will. He wisely devoted his time and energy to furthering Kingdom interests. We follow Jesus’ example by striving to keep a ‘simple eye’ and thus avoid weighing ourselves down with unnecessary things that consume our energy and attention. (Matt. 6:22)

Many Christians have taken steps to simplify their lifestyle so that they can devote more time to the ministry. Some have been able to enter the pioneer service. If you are one of those, that is most commendable. “Seeking first the kingdom” brings great happiness and satisfaction.—Matt. 6:33.

Imitemos la sabiduría de Jesús

Aunque Jesús tiene muchas cualidades dignas de imitarse, solo nos concentraremos en cuatro de ellas: su sabiduría, su humildad, su celo y su amor. Primero hablemos de su sabiduría, es decir, de la capacidad para poner en práctica el conocimiento y el entendimiento. El apóstol Pablo escribió: “Cuidadosamente ocultados en [Jesús] están todos los tesoros de la sabiduría y del conocimiento” (Col. 2:3). 

¿Cómo obtuvo Jesús tal sabiduría? Él mismo lo dijo: “Hablo estas cosas así como el Padre me ha enseñado” (Juan 8:28). Su sabiduría provenía de Jehová, por lo que no nos sorprende que actuara con tanta sensatez e inteligencia.
 
 Por ejemplo, Jesús decidió con acierto qué rumbo seguiría su vida. Escogió un estilo de vida sencillo para poder concentrarse en hacer la voluntad de Dios. Y dedicó sabiamente su tiempo y energías a promover los intereses del Reino. Para seguir su ejemplo, debemos esforzarnos por tener un ojo “sencillo” y por no agobiarnos con cargas innecesarias que consuman toda nuestra atención y energías (Mat. 6:22).

Muchos cristianos han simplificado su vida para dedicar más tiempo al ministerio, y algunos hasta se han hecho precursores. Si usted es uno de ellos, lo felicitamos. Buscar “primero el reino” produce gran felicidad y satisfacción (Mat. 6:33).

Why Follow Jesus?

 
 The prophet Jeremiah stated: “I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.” (Jer. 10:23) History has borne out the truth of Jeremiah’s words. It has become increasingly evident that imperfect humans cannot successfully govern themselves. We accepted the invitation to follow Jesus because we learned that he is qualified to be our Leader in a way that no human could ever be. Consider some of Jesus’ qualifications.
 
 First, Jesus was chosen as Messiah the Leader by Jehovah himself. Who knows better than our Creator whom to appoint as a Leader for us? Second, Jesus has qualities that we can admire and imitate. (Read Isaiah 11:2, 3.) He is a perfect example. (1 Pet. 2:21) Third, Jesus deeply cares about those who follow him, as he showed when he laid down his life for them. (Read John 10:14, 15.) And he shows himself to be a caring shepherd as he guides us to a life that brings happiness now and leads to a glorious eternal future. (John 10:10, 11; Rev. 7:16, 17) For these and other reasons, we made a wise decision when we chose to follow him. What, though, does such a course involve?
 
 Being followers of Christ means more than just calling ourselves Christian. Some two billion people claim to be Christian today, but their actions reveal them to be “workers of lawlessness.” (Read Matthew 7:21-23.) When individuals show an interest in the invitation to follow Jesus, we explain to them that true Christians pattern their entire way of life after his teachings and example—and they do so every day of their lives.

¿Por qué seguimos a Jesús?

 
 El profeta Jeremías dijo lo siguiente: “Bien sé yo, oh Jehová, que al hombre terrestre no le pertenece su camino. No pertenece al hombre que está andando siquiera dirigir su paso” (Jer. 10:23). La historia ha confirmado la veracidad de esas palabras. Cada vez está más claro que los seres humanos imperfectos no pueden gobernarse con éxito. En cambio, Jesús es el único que reúne las condiciones necesarias para ser nuestro gobernante, y por eso aceptamos su invitación de seguirlo. ¿Por qué estamos tan seguros de que él es quien mejor puede dirigirnos?
 
 En primer lugar, Jehová mismo escogió a Jesús para que fuera nuestro Caudillo. ¿Y quién podría haber hecho una mejor elección que nuestro Creador? En segundo lugar, Jesús tiene cualidades dignas de admirarse e imitarse (léase Isaías 11:2, 3). Él es un ejemplo perfecto para nosotros (1 Ped. 2:21). Y en tercer lugar, Jesús se preocupa profundamente por sus seguidores, lo cual demostró cuando dio su vida por ellos (léase Juan 10:14, 15). Él es un pastor que se interesa por sus ovejas, un pastor que nos ayuda a vivir una vida feliz hoy y a forjarnos un futuro eterno (Juan 10:10, 11; Rev. 7:16, 17). Estas y otras fueron las razones que nos motivaron a seguir a Jesús. Ahora bien, ¿qué significa realmente ser seguidor de Jesús?
 
 Ser seguidor de Cristo significa más que solo llamarse cristiano. Hoy día, unos dos mil millones de personas afirman que son cristianas, pero sus acciones no están de acuerdo con las leyes de Dios, por lo que en realidad son “obradores del desafuero” (léase Mateo 7:21-23). Tal como les explicamos a las personas que se interesan en la invitación de Jesús, para ser un cristiano verdadero hay que esforzarse por seguir el ejemplo y las enseñanzas de Cristo en todo momento de la vida.

Rom. 12:14—Rom. 12:14

Sigan bendiciendo a los que los persiguen; estén bendiciendo, y no maldiciendo (Rom. 12:14).
Sabemos que la predicación provocará la ira de nuestros enemigos, pues Jesús advirtió: “Serán objeto de odio de parte de todas las naciones por causa de mi nombre” (Mat. 24:9). Por eso, no nos sorprende ni nos desanima que la gente se ponga en nuestra contra (1 Ped. 4:12, 13). En vez de guardarles rencor a quienes nos persiguen, tratamos de darles a conocer la verdad, pues sabemos que algunos de ellos actúan por ignorancia (2 Cor. 4:4). Siempre procuramos seguir el consejo de Pablo citado en el texto de hoy. Una manera de bendecir a los opositores es orando por ellos. Jesús dijo en el Sermón del Monte: “Continúen amando a sus enemigos, haciendo bien a los que los odian, bendiciendo a los que los maldicen, orando por los que los insultan” (Luc. 6:27, 28).

Keep on blessing those who persecute; be blessing and do not be cursing.—Rom. 12:14.
We know that our Christian activity will provoke the anger of our enemies, for Jesus warned us: “You will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name.” (Matt. 24:9) Consequently, we are not surprised or discouraged when we meet up with opposition. (1 Pet. 4:12, 13) Rather than feeling animosity toward our persecutors, we try to enlighten them, realizing that some among them may be acting out of ignorance. (2 Cor. 4:4) We endeavor to heed Paul’s counsel as found in today’s text. One way to bless opposers is to pray for them. Jesus said in his Sermon on the Mount: “Continue to love your enemies, to do good to those hating you, to bless those cursing you, to pray for those who are insulting you.”—Luke 6:27, 28.

¡Me equivoqué! Decir esto no es tan fácil, sin embargo, cuando cometas un error que ofenda o perjudique a otras personas, aprende a decir con madurez: "perdóname, me equivoqué".

Cuando no podemos o no queremos admitir o expresar nuestra fragilidad o necesidad de otros, esta
mos en un grave problema. No te reprimas. ¡pide ayuda!, que también son muy importantes las palabras.
   
   Te escucho... ¡háblame de ti!
¿Cuántas veces le has dicho a algún miembro de tu familia: "háblame, qué te pasa?". Tal vez muchos problemas y mal entendidos se resolverían si tan sólo escucháramos lo que nos tratan de decir.
