What does Peter emphasize above all else regarding the mind of Christ? He taught: “This is my commandment, that you love one another just as I have loved you. No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul in behalf of his friends.” (John 15:12, 13) Shortly thereafter, Jesus sacrificed his life in behalf of mankind. And certainly his love has covered a multitude of sins! The person who has become a disciple of Jesus Christ must continue in the way of life. He is warned: “Let him that thinks he is standing beware that he does not fall.” (1Co 10:12) He is counseled: “More than all else that is to be guarded, safeguard your heart, for out of it are the sources of life.” (Pr 4:23) Jesus showed that it is from the heart that wicked reasonings, adultery, murder, and so forth, emanate. These things would lead to death. (Mt 15:19, 20) Guarding against such heart reasonings by supplying the heart with life-giving spiritual nourishment, the truth from the pure Fountain of life, will keep the heart from going wrong and taking the person out of the way of life.—Ro 8:6

La persona que se hace discípulo de Jesucristo debe mantenerse en el camino de la vida. De hecho, se le advierte: “El que piensa que está en pie, cuídese de no caer”. (1Co 10:12.) Además, se le aconseja: “Más que todo lo demás que ha de guardarse, salvaguarda tu corazón, porque procedentes de él son las fuentes de la vida”. (Pr 4:23.) Jesús explicó que del corazón emanan razonamientos inicuos, adulterios, asesinatos y otras malas inclinaciones, tendencias que podrían culminar en muerte. (Mt 15:19, 20.) La persona puede salvaguardarse de esa clase de razonamientos si procura llenar el corazón con alimento espiritual vivificante —la verdad de la Fuente pura de la vida— y así protegerlo de una inclinación impropia que podría resultar en que se apartase del camino de la vida. (Ro 8:6.)
