Resplandezca la luz de ustedes delante de los hombres, para que ellos vean sus obras excelentes y den gloria al Padre de ustedes que está en los cielos (Mat. 5:16).
Hay quienes le dan gloria a Dios y se hacen sus siervos debido a nuestras obras excelentes. Saber esto es sin duda un poderoso incentivo para continuar resplandeciendo “como iluminadores en el mundo” (Fili. 2:15). En vista de que somos “la luz del mundo”, debemos predicar el Reino y hacer discípulos (Mat. 5:14). Pero hace falta algo más. El apóstol Pablo lo expresó así: “Sigan andando como hijos de la luz, porque el fruto de la luz consiste en toda clase de bondad y justicia y verdad” (Efe. 5:8, 9). Nuestra conducta siempre debe demostrar que servimos a Dios. Así es, debemos seguir este consejo del apóstol Pedro: “Mantengan excelente su conducta entre las naciones, para que, en la cosa de que hablan contra ustedes como de malhechores, ellos, como resultado de las obras excelentes de ustedes, de las cuales son testigos oculares, glorifiquen a Dios en el día para la inspección por él” (1 Ped. 2:12).

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your fine works and give glory to your Father who is in the heavens.—Matt. 5:16.
Because of our “fine works,” some “give glory” to God by becoming his servants. What an incentive for us to keep on “shining as illuminators in the world”! (Phil. 2:15) Being “the light of the world” requires that we be involved in the Kingdom-preaching and disciple-making work. (Matt. 5:14) But something else is also required of us. “Go on walking as children of light,” wrote the apostle Paul, “for the fruitage of the light consists of every sort of goodness and righteousness and truth.” (Eph. 5:8, 9) We need to be shining examples of godly conduct. Indeed, we must heed the apostle Peter’s counsel: “Maintain your conduct fine among the nations, that, in the thing in which they are speaking against you as evildoers, they may as a result of your fine works of which they are eyewitnesses glorify God in the day for his inspection.”—1 Pet. 2:12.
