La tontedad puede descarriar fácilmente al muchacho, pero la disciplina que se basa en la Biblia ayuda a contrarrestarla. Aunque el joven no tenga padres cristianos, puede encontrar la guía necesaria en los principios bíblicos. Los sabios consejos de los hermanos maduros también son de gran ayuda. Sin importar quién ofrezca los consejos bíblicos, los jóvenes deben escucharlos, pues así serán felices ahora y en el futuro (Heb. 12:8-11). Hay muchos jóvenes que, por no aceptar la disciplina basada en la Biblia, han actuado tontamente y han sucumbido al espíritu de competencia, la codicia, la fornicación, el amor al dinero y la búsqueda de placeres. Estos son algunos de “los deseos que acompañan a la juventud” y de los cuales la Biblia nos anima a huir (2 Tim. 2:20-22). Para poder huir de ellos, el joven cristiano debe protegerse de las malas influencias, vengan de donde vengan.

Foolishness is tied up with the heart of a boy.—Prov. 22:15.
The foolishness in the heart of a youth can easily lead him or her astray. Something that can help to counter this is Bible-based discipline. Many Christian youths whose parents do not share their faith seek to find and apply principles set out in the Bible. Others benefit from the wise advice of spiritually mature ones in the congregation. Regardless of who gives Bible-based counsel, submitting to it can lead to happiness both now and in the future. (Heb. 12:8-11) Many a youthful heart lacking beneficial discipline has fallen prey to foolish ways, such as a competitive spirit, covetousness, fornication, the love of money, and the pursuit of pleasure. These reflect “desires incidental to youth,” from which the Bible urges us to flee. (2 Tim. 2:20-22) Fleeing requires that a Christian youth guard against unwholesome influences, wherever they might surface.
