Si un miembro sufre, todos los demás miembros sufren con él (1 Cor. 12:26).
Muchas congregaciones cuidan de manera ejemplar a los hermanos que han envejecido. Les hacen las compras, les limpian la casa y les preparan comidas. Además, los ayudan a estudiar, a ir a las reuniones y a participar regularmente en el ministerio. Y si no pueden salir de casa, les graban las reuniones o disponen lo necesario para que las escuchen por teléfono. Los superintendentes cristianos hacen todo lo posible a fin de que se atiendan las necesidades de los hermanos mayores de su congregación. Además, cada uno de nosotros puede visitar a los que se encuentran enfermos o no pueden salir de casa. En cualquier caso, nunca olvidemos tratarlos como lo que son: personas adultas. Mientras conserven sus facultades mentales, debemos tomarlos en cuenta en todas las decisiones que tengan que ver con ellos. Hasta las personas que tienen mermada su capacidad mental perciben si se les trata con dignidad o no.

If one member suffers, all the other members suffer with it.—1 Cor. 12:26.
In many congregations, the elderly are being cared for in an exemplary manner. Loving brothers and sisters help them with shopping, cooking, and cleaning. They help the elderly to study, to get ready for meetings, and to remain regular in the ministry. If older ones are unable to leave home, they are tied in to meetings by telephone or recordings are made for them. Whenever possible, elders make sure that practical arrangements are implemented in order to meet the needs of older ones in the congregation. Individual Christians too can visit them, especially when they are sick or confined. Moreover, you can and should always treat them as mature adults. As long as they are mentally able, older Christians should be included in all decision-making that affects them. Even those who have lost much of their mental ability can sense whether their dignity is being respected.
