Humor..Older Spiritual Sister

Older Spiritual Sister

This is part of a letter from an older spiritual sister, now deceased, who was generally bedridden. She could hardly walk at all without someone to help her. She was very encouraging though and her letter is typical for someone up around the motor city, (Detroit) you'll know why.
"So glad to send you a note in this novel way, using the only part of the body that still functions well. I'm about like a burned out car.
First the tires wore out…my feet. I kept patching them up and they traveled many miles since the first patch. Then the wheels got wobbly…my legs. Soon the engine began to conk out…that's my heart…had to be worked on often.
Chassis became weak and shaky…that's my bone structure. Fuel lines became clogged…that's my arteries and blood vessels.
Fenders and body became bumped, bent, scratched and scarred…that's my outward appearance…so I'm not much to look at anymore.
The headlights have become dim…that's my eyes. I can't see the road ahead very well.
The steering apparatus isn't so good anymore…that's my mind. I have to be careful to keep steering on the straight and narrow road.
There's one part of the old car that is in good working order….the horn…my tongue. I keep on honking with every chance I get, hoping some stray sheep out there in Satan's wilderness will hear that honk, honk, honk and will follow that sound to the good shepherd's fold."
