Soul

Definition: In the Bible, “soul” is translated from the Hebrew ne′phesh and the Greek psy·khe′. Bible usage shows the soul to be a person or an animal or the life that a person or an animal enjoys. To many persons, however, “soul” means the immaterial or spirit part of a human being that survives the death of the physical body. Others understand it to be the principle of life. But these latter views are not Bible teachings.

Definición: En la Biblia, el vocablo “alma” se da como traducción de la palabra hebrea ne′phesh y de la palabra griega psy·khe′. Por el uso que se da al vocablo en la Biblia queda claro que el alma es la persona o el animal mismos a que se hace referencia con el término, o la vida de que disfruta la persona o el animal. Sin embargo, para muchos, “alma” es la parte inmaterial o espiritual de un ser humano que sobrevive a la muerte del cuerpo físico. Otros entienden que es el principio vital. Pero estos últimos puntos de vista no son enseñanzas bíblicas.
