Vengan a mí, todos los que se afanan y están cargados, y yo los refrescaré. Tomen sobre sí mi yugo y aprendan de mí, porque soy de genio apacible y humilde de corazón, y hallarán refrigerio para sus almas (Mat. 11:28, 29).
Jesús, aunque era el Hijo de Dios y era perfecto, estuvo dispuesto a venir a la Tierra y vivir entre seres humanos imperfectos y pecadores, algunos de los cuales terminarían por matarlo. Sin embargo, él nunca se amargó ni perdió los estribos (1 Ped. 2:21-23). Si miramos atentamente a Jesús y seguimos con cuidado su ejemplo, también nosotros sabremos tolerar los errores e imperfecciones de los demás (Heb. 12:2). Jesús hizo esta invitación a sus discípulos: “Pónganse debajo de mi yugo conmigo”, y luego les dijo que aprendieran de él (Mat. 11:29, nota). Entre otras cosas, los discípulos podían aprender de la apacibilidad de su Maestro y de la paciencia que les tenía cuando cometían errores. La noche antes de morir, por ejemplo, él les enseñó la importancia de ser “humilde[s] de corazón” lavándoles los pies. ¡Qué inolvidable lección! (Juan 13:14-17.)

Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am mild-tempered and lowly in heart, and you will find refreshment for your souls.—Matt. 11:28, 29.

Jesus, the perfect Son of God, willingly came to earth to serve among imperfect and sinful people. Some of those would later kill him. Yet, Jesus always maintained his joy and self-control. (1 Pet. 2:21-23) ‘Looking intently’ at Jesus’ example can help us to do the same when others’ faults and imperfections affect us. (Heb. 12:2) Jesus invited his disciples to ‘get under his yoke with him’ and thus to learn from him. (Matt. 11:29, ftn.) What could they learn? For one thing, Jesus was mild-tempered, and he was patient with his disciples despite their faults. On the night before he died, Jesus washed their feet, thereby teaching them a lesson in being “lowly in heart” that they would never forget.—John 13:14-17.
