No deben ustedes presentar ninguna cosa en que haya defecto (Lev. 22:20).
Como bien muestra la Biblia, la persona íntegra es la que lleva una vida intachable, la que actúa con entereza moral. De hecho, los términos hebreos relacionados con la palabra “integridad” provienen de una raíz que significa “entero”, “intacto”, “sin tacha o defecto”. Y uno de estos términos hebreos se emplea para referirse a los animales que se ofrecían a Jehová. Para que él los aceptara, debían estar sanos y sin defectos. De ahí que Jehová condenara tan enérgicamente a quienes desobedecían esa norma y ofrecían animales cojos, enfermos o ciegos (Mal. 1:6-8). Como es lógico, todos esperamos que las cosas que adquirimos estén completas o enteras. Pensemos, por ejemplo, en una mujer que va recogiendo caracolas mientras pasea por la playa. Fascinada por la belleza y la variedad de las caracolas que encuentra a su paso, se detiene aquí y allá a examinar algunas de ellas. ¿Con cuáles cree usted que se quedará? Con las que están completas, intactas. Pues Dios hace algo parecido: él busca a las personas que son íntegras, completas, por decirlo así (2 Cró. 16:9).

Anything in which there is a defect you must not present.—Lev. 22:20.
As used in the Bible, integrity involves moral completeness, soundness. The Hebrew words relating to “integrity” come from a root meaning sound, whole, or faultless. One of these words is used regarding the sacrifices to be offered to Jehovah. An animal for sacrifice gained his approval only if it was sound, or whole. Jehovah strongly censured those who flouted his direction by offering lame, sick, or blind animals for sacrifice. (Mal. 1:6-8) The idea of seeking and valuing that which is whole, or complete, is not strange. Picture a woman walking on a beach, collecting some of the shells cast ashore by the waves. Fascinated by the variety and beauty of these creations, she now and again stoops to examine one. Which ones does she keep? The ones that are whole, intact. Similarly, God is seeking people who have this quality of wholeness, or completeness.—2 Chron. 16:9
