Opónganse al Diablo, y él huirá de ustedes (Sant. 4:7).
Jesús les aseguró a sus discípulos que Dios les daría su espíritu al decirles: “Si ustedes, aunque son [imperfectos y relativamente] inicuos, saben dar buenos regalos a sus hijos, ¡con cuánta más razón dará el Padre en el cielo espíritu santo a los que le piden!” (Luc. 11:13). No dejemos de pedirle a Jehová su poderosísimo espíritu santo, pues este reforzará nuestra determinación de oponernos al Diablo y nos ayudará a vencer. Además, tenemos que ponernos todas las piezas de la armadura espiritual (Efe. 6:11-18, nota). La Biblia muestra otro factor que ayudó a Jesús a oponerse al Diablo y que también puede ayudarnos a nosotros: “Por el gozo que fue puesto delante de él aguantó un madero de tormento” (Heb. 12:2). Nosotros sentiremos el mismo gozo que Jesús si apoyamos la soberanía de Jehová, honramos su santo nombre y tenemos siempre presente la esperanza de la vida eterna.

Oppose the Devil, and he will flee from you.—Jas. 4:7.
Jesus assured his followers of the availability of God’s spirit by saying: “If you, although being [imperfect and thus comparatively] wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more so will the Father in heaven give holy spirit to those asking him!” (Luke 11:13) Let us continue praying to Jehovah for his holy spirit. With this most powerful force backing us up in our determination to oppose the Devil, we will be able to come off victorious. Also, we need to put on the complete suit of spiritual armor from God. (Eph. 6:11-18, ftn.) Something else helped Jesus to oppose the Devil, and it can help us too. The Bible states: “For the joy that was set before [Jesus] he endured a torture stake.” (Heb. 12:2) We can have similar joy by upholding Jehovah’s sovereignty, honoring his holy name, and keeping the reward of everlasting life before us.
