Regocíjense con los que se regocijan; lloren con los que lloran (Rom. 12:15).
Para iniciar conversaciones con nuestros vecinos y llegarles al corazón, debemos interesarnos de verdad en ellos. Si escuchamos con compasión a las personas, sabremos qué necesidades tienen y podremos explicarles mejor cómo puede ayudarles el Reino. Seguramente ha observado que una característica de los buenos evangelizadores es que saben escuchar (Pro. 20:5). Tales hermanos se interesan de verdad en la gente a la que visitan. No solo toman nota de su nombre y dirección, sino también de lo que les interesa y de sus necesidades. Si alguien les habla de un problema personal, buscan información y se la llevan a los pocos días. Como el apóstol Pablo, adaptan su presentación a la persona con la que están conversando (1 Cor. 9:19-23). Ese interés sincero atrae a la gente a la verdad y refleja “la tierna compasión de nuestro Dios” (Luc. 1:78).

Rejoice with people who rejoice; weep with people who weep.—Rom. 12:15.

A deep personal interest in others will help us to start Bible discussions and reach people in the ministry. When we listen compassionately, we in effect allow people to tell us why they need the Kingdom. This puts us in a much better position to share the good news with them. You have likely observed that effective evangelizers are usually skilled listeners. (Prov. 20:5) They show a real interest in the people they meet in the ministry. They take note not only of their names and addresses but also of their interests and needs. When someone expresses a specific concern, they do research and soon return to share what they found. Like the apostle Paul, they adapt their presentation of the Kingdom message to the individuals they meet. (1 Cor. 9:19-23) Such sincere interest attracts people to the good news and reflects “the tender compassion of our God.”—Luke 1:78.
