Tu padre y tu madre se regocijarán (Pro. 23:25).
Es fundamental enseñar buenos modales a los hijos. Para relacionarse bien con la gente cuando sean adultos, los niños tienen que aprender cómo contestar el teléfono, saludar a los visitantes y comportarse a la mesa. Hay que ayudarles a comprender por qué deben sostenerles la puerta a otras personas, ser bondadosos con los mayores o enfermos y ofrecerse a ayudar a quienes llevan paquetes pesados. Deben entender la importancia de pedir las cosas con amabilidad, dar las gracias, disculparse y así por el estilo. El mejor modo de enseñar buenos modales a los hijos es darles el ejemplo. Así podrán hacer amigos y llevarse bien con los demás. Además, estarán mejor preparados para el futuro, pues sabrán relacionarse con patronos y compañeros de trabajo. Y, desde luego, los hijos que se comportan con corrección y amabilidad llenan de orgullo y alegría a sus padres (Pro. 23:24).

The value of training our children to be well-mannered cannot be overestimated. To get along well as adults, young ones need to learn the proper way to greet visitors, to answer the telephone, and to eat a meal with others. They should be helped to understand why they ought to hold doors for people, show kindness to the elderly and sick, and offer to help those carrying heavy packages. They need to understand the importance of sincerely saying “please,” “thank you,” “you are welcome,” “may I help you?,” and “I am sorry.” The best way to train children to be courteous is by setting a good example. Thus, children will be able to make friends and will maintain peace with others. They will be well-equipped to work with employers and coworkers. Moreover, children who are courteous, mannerly, and upright will bring their parents joy and satisfaction.—Prov. 23:24.
