Las malas compañías echan a perder los hábitos útiles (1 Cor. 15:33).
En muchos sentidos, las personas somos como esponjas: absorbemos lo que nos rodea. El Creador sabe que los amigos pueden tener en nosotros una influencia muy negativa o muy positiva. De ahí que nos dé este buen consejo: “El que está andando con personas sabias se hará sabio, pero al que está teniendo tratos con los estúpidos le irá mal” (Pro. 13:20). Todos queremos ser sabios, pues no nos gustaría que nos fuera mal en la vida. Por eso debemos seguir el magnífico ejemplo que nos da el propio Jehová. Es interesante notar que aunque él no puede hacerse más sabio ni tampoco verse afectado por las malas influencias, elige muy bien sus amistades. Pues bien, ¿a qué humanos imperfectos ha escogido Dios como amigos? Seguramente recordamos que Jehová llamó “mi amigo” a Abrahán (Isa. 41:8). Este patriarca se destacó por su fe y su lealtad, por su justicia y su obediencia (Sant. 2:21-23). Ese es el tipo de amigos que busca Jehová.

Bad associations spoil useful habits.—1 Cor. 15:33.
When it comes to associations, people are like sponges. We tend to absorb whatever is around us. Our Creator well knows how dangerous—and how helpful—associations can be for imperfect humans. Therefore, he gives us this wise counsel: “He that is walking with wise persons will become wise, but he that is having dealings with the stupid ones will fare badly.” (Prov. 13:20) None of us want to “fare badly.” Each of us wants to “become wise.” Jehovah cannot be made any wiser than he is, nor can he ever be corrupted by anyone. Yet, he sets a beautiful example for us when it comes to associations. Think of it—which imperfect humans does Jehovah choose as his friends? Jehovah referred to the patriarch Abraham as “my friend.” (Isa. 41:8) This man was outstandingly faithful, righteous, and obedient—a man of faith. (Jas. 2:21-23) That is the kind of friend Jehovah chooses. He befriends such people today.
