Este hombre es verdaderamente el salvador del mundo (Juan 4:42).
Una razón por la cual muchos rechazaron a Jesús como el Mesías es que consideraban sus enseñanzas difíciles de aceptar. Para formar parte del Reino tenían que “repudiarse”, “comer” la carne y “beber” la sangre de Cristo, “nacer de nuevo” y “no ser parte del mundo” (Mar. 8:34; Juan 3:3; 6:53; 17:14, 16). A los ricos, los orgullosos y los hipócritas, aquello les parecía demasiado. En cambio, a los judíos humildes no les costó reconocer que él era el Mesías. Y lo mismo les sucedió a algunos samaritanos. Jesús predijo que los sacerdotes principales lo condenarían a muerte, que los gentiles lo clavarían a un madero y que resucitaría al tercer día (Mat. 20:17-19). Cuando declaró ante el Sanedrín que él era “el Cristo” y “el Hijo de Dios”, fue acusado de blasfemia (Mat. 26:63-66). Luego, cuando compareció ante Pilato, este se dio cuenta de que no había hecho “nada que [mereciera] la muerte”, pero como los judíos también lo habían acusado de sedición, terminó entregándoselo (Luc. 23:13-15, 25).

One reason why people rejected Jesus as the promised Messiah was his teachings, which many found hard to accept. Entry into the Kingdom would require ‘disowning oneself,’ ‘eating’ Jesus’ flesh and blood, being “born again,” and being “no part of the world.” (Mark 8:34; John 3:3; 6:53; 17:14, 16) The proud, the rich, and the hypocritical viewed these requirements as too difficult to fulfill. However, humble Jews accepted Jesus as the Messiah, as did some Samaritans. Jesus foretold that he would be condemned by the chief priests and be impaled by Gentiles, but on the third day, he would rise. (Matt. 20:17-19) His affirmation before the Sanhedrin that he was “the Christ the Son of God” was judged to be blasphemy. (Matt. 26:63-66) Pilate found in him “nothing deserving of death,” but because the Jews charged him also with sedition, Pilate “surrendered Jesus to their will.”—Luke 23:13-15, 25.
