Tenemos dones que difieren según la bondad inmerecida que se nos ha dado (Rom. 12:6).
Algunos de los dones que Pablo mencionó —como el don de exhortar y el de presidir— tienen que ver especialmente con los superintendentes cristianos, a quienes se les manda que presidan “con verdadera solicitud” y diligencia. Pablo dice que esa misma diligencia debe percibirse cuando los ancianos sirven de maestros y llevan a cabo su ministerio. ¿Qué es este ministerio? El contexto parece indicar que se trata de “un ministerio” que se realiza dentro de la congregación, a la cual Pablo llama “un solo cuerpo” (Rom. 12:4, 5, 7, 8). Los apóstoles hablaron de un ministerio similar en Hechos 6:4: “Nosotros nos dedicaremos a la oración y al ministerio de la palabra”. Dicho ministerio consiste en fortalecer a los miembros de la congregación. Así es, los superintendentes se ocupan “en este ministerio” al darles guía e instrucción bíblica. Y lo que les ayudará a enseñar y pastorear al rebaño es el estudio, la oración y la investigación.

We have gifts differing according to the undeserved kindness given to us.—Rom. 12:6.
Some of the gifts Paul mentions—exhorting, presiding—especially concern Christian elders, who are admonished to preside “in real earnest.” That same earnestness should be evident, states Paul, in the way overseers serve as teachers and carry out “a ministry.” The context seems to indicate that Paul here refers to “a ministry” carried out within the congregation, or the “one body.” (Rom. 12:4, 5, 7, 8) That ministry is similar to the one mentioned at Acts 6:4, where the apostles declare: “We shall devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” What does such a ministry involve? Christian elders use their gifts to build up the members of the congregation. They show themselves to “be at this ministry” when they earnestly provide guidance and instruction to the congregation from God’s Word by their prayerful study, research, teaching, and shepherding.
