Esposos, continúen amando a sus esposas, tal como el Cristo también amó a la congregación (Efe. 5:25).
Jesús era “de genio apacible y humilde de corazón” (Mat. 11:29). Además, siempre actuó con decisión y nunca evadió sus responsabilidades (Mar. 6:34; Juan 2:14-17). Aconsejó con bondad a los discípulos todas las veces que fue necesario (Mat. 20:21-28; Mar. 9:33-37; Luc. 22:24-27). Pero nunca los sermoneó ni los humilló. Tampoco les dio a entender que no los quería o que nunca serían capaces de seguir sus instrucciones. Más bien, elogiaba sus cualidades y los animaba (Luc. 10:17-21). Con un carácter tan cariñoso y compasivo, no sorprende que se ganara rápidamente el respeto de los discípulos. El ejemplo de Jesús le enseña al cristiano que no debe actuar como un tirano. Todo lo contrario: debe tratar a su esposa con respeto y amor, y tener espíritu de sacrificio.

Husbands, continue loving your wives, just as the Christ also loved the congregation.—Eph. 5:25.
Jesus was “mild-tempered and lowly in heart.” (Matt. 11:29) He was also a man of action. Never did he abdicate his responsibilities. (Mark 6:34; John 2:14-17) He kindly gave counsel to his disciples, even repeatedly when necessary. (Matt. 20:21-28; Mark 9:33-37; Luke 22:24-27) Still, Jesus did not berate or humiliate them, nor did he make them feel unloved or incapable of carrying out what he was teaching them to do. Instead, he praised and encouraged his disciples. (Luke 10:17-21) No wonder Jesus gained the respect of his disciples by his loving and compassionate treatment of them! Jesus’ example teaches husbands that Christian headship is not a position of harsh domination. Rather, it is one marked by respect and self-sacrificing love.
