No critiques severamente a un hombre mayor. Por lo contrario, ínstale como a un padre, a los de menos edad como a hermanos, a las mujeres de más edad como a madres, a las de menos edad como a hermanas, con toda castidad (1 Tim. 5:1, 2).
Pablo animó al joven Timoteo a tratar con respeto a todos en la congregación. Nosotros debemos hacer lo mismo: tratar a los mayores como si fueran nuestros padres o madres y a los jóvenes como si fueran nuestros propios hermanos. Si tenemos esa actitud, ninguno se sentirá como un extraño en nuestra presencia. Si nos acostumbramos a conversar sobre temas edificantes con los demás, contribuiremos a su bienestar espiritual y emocional. Un hermano que trabaja en Betel recuerda con cariño a varios betelitas de experiencia que solían hablar con él cuando comenzó a servir en la sucursal. Sus palabras de estímulo lo hacían sentirse parte de la familia Betel. Ahora él trata de hacer lo mismo por sus compañeros.

Do not severely criticize an older man. To the contrary, entreat him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters with all chasteness.—1 Tim. 5:1, 2.
Paul encouraged young Timothy to have respect for all members of the congregation. We too should treat older Christians as if they were our mothers and fathers and the younger ones as our siblings, that is, children of our own parents. When we have that attitude, none of our dear brothers and sisters will feel like strangers in our presence. As we engage others in upbuilding conversation, we contribute to their spirituality and emotional well-being. A brother working at a branch office fondly remembers several older Bethelites who regularly took time to speak with him in his early days at Bethel. Their encouraging words made him feel that he really was part of the Bethel family. Now he tries to imitate them by conversing with his fellow Bethelites.
